Two more Boniface VLA’s Join the Boleyn Fleet
2025-12-12
Boleyn completed its first job in 1959, when founder Bill Smith took a leap of faith and repaired mobile generators for a local firm.
From those modest beginnings, and through years of Bill working tirelessly day and night, the business has grown into a nationwide recovery and roadside support operation. Today, Boleyn operates workshops, ATF lanes and MOT facilities from its owned site in Barking, East London, as well as its M25 location near Brentwood. The Brentwood site is now expanding to include a new 8,000 sq. ft workshop and 20,000 sq. ft of vehicle parking, enabling the development of a state-of-the-art police facility and satellite operations hub.
In late 2022, Stephen – Bill’s son – returned to the business. Working closely with Jim Parker (Managing Director), Darren Donoghue (Recovery Operations Director) and the wider team, he helped redefine the company’s strategic direction. This renewed focus has driven revenue growth of more than 40% in three years, with all profits reinvested to strengthen capability, infrastructure and customer support.
One of Boleyn’s core specialisms is the support of blue-light fleets. To enhance this capability, Boleyn recently added two MAN 15t 6t VLA units for Ambulance Trust support, with an 8-wheel DAF fitted with 9055 and sidewinders soon to follow, built with a unique body design to maximise storage. The company remains committed to a rolling fleet development programme to ensure capability, reliability and long-term resilience. A Mk6 Interstater is already in build, along with a 9055 Trident scheduled for 2026, and both on DAF chassis supplied by Harris DAF in Grays, Essex.
Boniface continues to be Boleyn’s recovery bodybuilder of choice — a partnership that traces back decades to Bill Smith and Michael Boniface, and remains central to the business today.
