Boniface VLA Accident Unit Joins the Oasis Fleet!

Just four months ago we had the pleasure in handing over a Champion slidebed to Oasis Rescue, and as part of their continued fleet replacement and expansion programme, we recently met up with  them again, this time to hand over this stunning accident unit to Rayan and Ben.

The chassis for the accident unit is a new 18t DAF XD 370, which was fitted with a Fassi F235A lorry loader crane. This combination was further enhanced with a Boniface 5t steel VLA slidebed and two tonne 2nd car lift.  The deck of this VLA features a one-piece steel floor and has lashing rings welded to the top of each side rave.  Like all VLA slidebeds, the tilt frame and subframe were galvanised to prolong equipment life.  The build included a newly designed bed end fairlead which allows low winching onto the 2nd car lift as well as side winching from the rear of the deck. As with most Oasis builds, many optional extras were included as part of the build. These included things like a hydraulically sliding winch, radio remote control, stainless steel lockers, greedy ramps, skate ramps, 12v & 24v jump leads, trailer board, 3.5t damage free lifting frame with hydraulic levelling & rotator to name just a few. As always, the vibrant Oasis livery makes the vehicles really stand out, promoting a positive and professional image whilst out on the road. 

The VLA slidebed is a very robust, reliable, and capable product that has been extensively used by operators all over the UK.  It is available in three capacities, 3t, 5t and 6t, and comes as standard with a rear tow bar. On larger chassis, an optional 2t capacity 2nd car lift is available which is supplied with a removable tow ball attachment.  One of the many standard features of the VLA is a manually sliding 8,000lb hydraulic winch that allows the operator to easily maintain a straight pull on the vehicle’s towing eye. The 2t capacity 2nd car lift is adjustable for both width and tire size allowing the operator to move anything from the smallest car to the largest van. As with most Boniface slide beds, the subframe and tipping frames are fully galvanized to help prolong equipment life, and the body is fitted with LED beacon, work lights and marker lights - all of which will provide years of reliable service.  The VLA slidebed has lever controls housed in a locker at the rear but is usually operated by a single button on the radio remote control, which also operates the winch.  The VLA is fitted with rubberized ground contact rollers which help make operation of the bed both smooth and quiet, whilst clearly labeled controls make operating the product very user friendly.
