Boniface 3t VLA for Dynes

Boniface 3t VLA for Dynes

After the tragic event last year that saw one of the Dynes operatives lose his life whilst carrying out a roadside recovery, Andy Nock and Adam Drury wanted to give something back to the RISC charity which provided much needed financial help and support to their employee’s partner.   They decided to host an event at Brands Hatch to raise awareness to the dangers faced by our industry and also to commission a special vehicle built by Boniface which provides high visibility whilst working at the roadside.

The vehicle pictured is a new Iveco 70C17 fitted with the Boniface 3t VLA slidebed which features things such as a sliding winch, galvanized subframe, LED lighting and full radio remote control.  Boniface take safety very seriously and have inbuilt systems which prevent the bed moving if an emergency situation occurs.  One of the main issues when loading a slidebed with a tall vehicle is that the rear facing lights and beacons are covered up making the vehicle much less visible from the rear.  To help overcome this, LED strobes have been fitted to the front of the tilt frame which becomes the highest point when the bed is deployed. These strobes provide some additional rear facing illumination alerting drivers to the recovery operation that is taking place.  The outside of the flyer has been fitted with curved pods which protrude wider than the casualty vehicle during the loading process. These will be installed with the new illuminated sign writing that was demonstrated on the rear of the cab, all of which makes the vehicle much more visible and safer to use.
