AJ Autos Recovery Celebrates Award
2026-10-28
AJ Autos Recovery has taken delivery of an award-winning new Boniface Trident heavy recovery vehicle mounted on a DAF 6x2 XG+ chassis at Tow Show 2026, marking the second consecutive year the family-run business has collected a new vehicle from Boniface Engineering at the industry's premier event.
The new Trident was officially handed over by Glen Hall to company founder Andy James, joined by his wife Jane James, son Tom James, and daughter-in-law Beth James, reflecting the strong family values that continue to underpin the success of AJ Autos Recovery.
Over recent years, AJ Autos Recovery has enjoyed sustained growth, secured new contracts and expanding its recovery operations while maintaining the high standards of service that have earned the company an excellent reputation throughout the industry. Continued investment in modern recovery equipment has been central to that success, with Boniface Engineering working closely alongside the business to support its development plans.
The latest addition to the fleet attracted considerable attention throughout Tow Show 2026, earning an award during the exhibition and reinforcing AJ Autos Recovery's commitment to operating industry-leading recovery equipment.
The Boniface Trident is widely recognised as one of the most capable heavy recovery systems available to the professional recovery industry. Combining exceptional lifting performance, versatility and operator-focused design, the Trident has established a reputation as a class-leading solution for the recovery of commercial vehicles, buses and coaches.
Engineered and assembled by the team at Boniface Engineering in Thetford, the Trident benefits from the global resources, engineering expertise and product development capabilities of Miller Industries, the world's largest manufacturer of towing and recovery equipment. This unique combination allows customers to benefit from globally proven technology while continuing to receive the specialist support, technical expertise and customer service for which Boniface Engineering is renowned throughout the UK and European recovery sectors.
However, it was a deeply personal feature of the vehicle that made the handover particularly memorable.
Unknown to Andy, his son Tom had secretly commissioned renowned artist Tom Scott of Scott Airbrush Work to create bespoke airbrushed artwork on both sides of the cab of the new DAF 6x2 XG+ chassis. Featuring portraits of Andy's late mother and father, the artwork was designed as a tribute to their lives and the role they played in shaping the family values upon which AJ Autos Recovery was built.
The project was kept completely secret throughout the build process, with Andy only seeing the finished artwork for the first time during the official handover at Tow Show 2026.
The surprise reveal provided one of the most emotional moments of the event, reflecting the close family bonds that continue to drive the business forward today.
Although only two generations of the James family were present for the official handover, the airbrushed tribute ensured that three generations of the family were represented on the vehicle. The artwork served as a lasting reminder of the family's history while celebrating the future of the business through Tom and Beth's growing involvement in the company.
The occasion carried even greater significance as it came just weeks after Tom and Beth James were married on 30 August 2026. The award-winning Trident therefore represents not only another major investment in AJ Autos Recovery's future but also a memorable milestone for the newlyweds as they continue to play an increasingly important role within the company.
Speaking after the handover, Glen Hall said:
"It's always a pleasure to hand over a new vehicle, but this one was particularly special. AJ Autos Recovery is a business built around family, and the surprise artwork created by Tom for Andy was a wonderful tribute that caught everyone by surprise. Seeing Andy's reaction when he first saw the completed vehicle was a real highlight of the show.
Andy, Jane, Tom and Beth have built an outstanding business through hard work, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to their customers. Their continued investment reflects the growth they are achieving, and we're proud to be supporting them on that journey. To hand over another new vehicle to AJ Autos Recovery at Tow Show for the second year running demonstrates the strength of the relationship we have built together."
AJ Autos Recovery continues to work closely with Boniface Engineering across a wide range of recovery products. As part of Miller Industries, the world's largest manufacturer of towing and recovery equipment, Boniface is uniquely positioned to offer customers access to one of the industry's broadest portfolios of recovery solutions.
Alongside the Boniface Trident range, AJ Autos Recovery has also explored equipment from across the wider Miller Industries family available through Boniface Engineering, including products from Jige International and OMARS. This enables the company to select the most suitable equipment for each operational requirement while maintaining a close working relationship with a trusted partner that understands both its current needs and future ambitions.
The relationship between AJ Autos Recovery and Boniface Engineering extends beyond individual vehicle purchases, with both companies continuing to work together on future fleet development plans as the business expands and secures new opportunities.
Andy James commented:
"We've built a fantastic relationship with Boniface over the years and their support has been invaluable as our business has grown. The ability to access products from across the Boniface, Jige International and OMARS ranges through a single trusted partner gives us confidence that we can continue investing in the right equipment as our business develops.
The new Trident is an incredible vehicle and another fantastic addition to our fleet. Seeing the artwork for the first time at the handover was a genuinely emotional moment and made the occasion one that our family will never forget."
With the latest Trident now entering service, discussions are already underway regarding the next addition to the AJ Autos Recovery fleet. The relationship between the two companies continues to develop as AJ Autos Recovery expands its operations and evaluates future fleet requirements.
