BONIFACE DO BIG AND SMALL

Boniface are well known for the heavy recovery equipment they produce however like many of the UK producers they have been satisfying the demand created by the change in tachograph legislation for 3.5 tonne GVW transporters. Boniface produces their T35 model which is a slide bed that gives around 1.4 tonnes payload on this size of vehicle, this is ideally suited for accident work as it provides a flat working platform, however along side this product they supply a simple beaver tail with ramps that when fitted to the Citroen chassis provides a payload of nearer to 1500kgs. This product is competitively priced and demonstrates Boniface’s commitment to provide their customers with a comprehensive range of equipment, give them a call if you want something big or small.

new man (9).jpg (102260 bytes) new man (7).jpg (96586 bytes)

When Tim Warne Recovery Manager for Hammonds of Halesworth wanted a new vehicle his first port of call was our Thetford factory to discuss new trucks and look at stock vehicles which we have in all the time. He chose this impressive MAN crew cab 10t vehicle fitted with the ever popular Champion 3.5t capacity slide bed with second car lift. Hammonds painted the truck in there striking livery and the vehicle is now is full use on the roads of Suffolk .

Tim chose Boniface because the truck was in build and it could be turned around for a quick delivery giving him the chance to make use of the vehicle in the remaining summer months.

RISLEY RECOVERY ADD MID CITY V SPEC LIFT TO FLEET

Derbyshire based Risley Recovery have recently added this impressive looking Mid City V spec lift with composite body to their fleet. The composite make up of this bodywork offers many advantages over standard steel bodies including a substantial weight saving, increasing the vehicles lift and tow capacity. This bodywork will never rust so the vehicle will look great for many years to come. The Mid City V spectacle lift is a very capable piece of equipment, with its low profile and fully adjustable wheel grids, it is suitable for moving a range of vehicles from large vans to small cars. Fitted to this Renault Mascott, it is ideal for all those awkward jobs around the city centre where space is of a premium as well as the narrow country lanes of Derbyshire where access with larger vehicles is difficult.

Mark Headley of Risley Recovery thought long and hard before deciding upon this vehicle, comparing it's features and benefits to other products in the market place. I'm sure he had many reasons for his purchase but I'm sure one of them was that Boniface are such Nice People To Deal With".

NEW DAF 105 510

A new Daf 105 510 is in the process of being kitted out and sign written for one of Boniface’s customer’s in Glasgow ,M8 Recovery who have been increasing their fleet of equipment steadily over the last few years to match the demand for their towing and recovery service in the Glasgow region and beyond.

The product chosen by Junior, the proprietor of M8, on this occasion was the Interstater 6 with Pioneer axle, a premium towing vehicle, however interestingly for a Pioneer system it is fitted with mid mounted legs and twin 30,000lb winches thus providing a degree more recovery capability than a straight lift and tow vehicle. The under lift boom is the latest version of the Maxi reach lowline which extends to a length adequate for moving all of the buses and coaches encountered by M8 in the course of their business.

The stainless steel body work is custom made  in proportion to the height of the cab and when the livery of this company is added, which may include a cartoon character, the whole outfit will particularly striking, we intend to exhibit the finished truck at the forthcoming Euro Tow Show.

A BRACE OF INSTERSTATER 6 AND PIONEER AXLES

A brace of Interstater 6 and Pioneer axles were delivered to customers in February, one for Crouch Recovery at Kibworth and the other for RUD at Cradley Heath. Both customers are long time users of Boniface equipment, RUD having had a couple of Pioneers previously and Crouch having a whole host of Boniface equipment over the years, their reasons for choosing this product is that they require in this instance top of the range lift and tow equipment.

The Boniface range of Interstater, with long low booms integrated with some smart chassis engineering gives the performance to lift heavy loads and keep within the 25000kgs bogie load that we are restricted to today. The customers are provided with a comprehensive body package, made from a composite of stainless steel and aluminium which is complimented with the stealth flyer

MANCHETTS GO FOR FOUR AXLES

Manchetts Recovery of Burwell has recently changed their three axle Boniface Trailer to a four axle version from the same company. Although happy with the three axle version they needed to upgrade to a version that provided a larger payload, four axles clearly offers better carrying capacity than three, they chose Boniface not only because the have the only four axle trailer on the market, but because the trailer hosts a whole bunch of other features that can help in many recovery situations. These features include a large capacity winch, hydraulic ramps on both the front and rear, hydraulic landing legs, two lift axles, wheel wells to reduce overall height, in fact a package that has developed into arguably the best recovery trailer on the market.

Boniface are progressive in their approach to trailer application and are now monitoring, with the aid of customers of the calibre of Manchetts, the operation capability of this type of machinery and will introduce more changes in 2007 that will further aid our customers.

IN MEMORY OF JACK OVENDEN

It was good to see this mention of Jack Ovenden on the side of the latest addition to Ashford Auto’s fleet of recovery equipment; we transacted some business directly with Jack in the 80’s and have good memories of someone who was a “character”. At Boniface we are proud of the relations we have established with many people in this industry and in this case a specific memorial to Jack is displayed on a truck that we have supplied

HIGHWAY RECOVERY DECIDE ON A RECOVERER PLUS

Highway Recovery, a long established and well managed company from Yorkshire , were looking for a replacement vehicle for one of their Boniface Recoverers’, a machine that has given them excellent service for many years. The owner of the company, John Carnevale, is also from Yorkshire and typically drives a hard bargain, so Boniface had to work hard to get the order!

John, decided on a Recoverer Plus, a power punching versatile piece of recovery machinery that will satisfy most heavy recovery operators demands for a boom that will provides a winching and lifting platform and a long low underlift that extends out below the broken down trucks and lifts them with ease.

The machine selection was relatively easy, as John was happy with the previous performance of Boniface products, the negotiations that followed regarding the price were long and tense, however in the end a deal was struck, once again demonstrating that Boniface are not just a good team of recovery equipment builders but also “ nice people to deal with”

Dave Farrell of Hough Green Garage bought a couple of these 7.5 tonne Midlums at the Euro Tow Show, both were fitted with VTech bodies. For people who don’t know the VTech range or think that the only good thing to come from there was Paul Wicks, best recovery technician in the world and of course in the Boniface Championship winning team, they also had a good concept of rolling the bed off the back in a channel that combines as the equipment subframe, this saves weight. Saving weight increases payload, these Midlums can carry 2200 kgs, which is a class apart from a regular bed. The message is, if you want payload from a 7 ˝ tonner, talk to Boniface who can specify something from there VTech range.

DAVID FARRELL DOES IT AGAIN

David Farrell of Hough Green Garage in Widnes, Cheshire has just placed an order for a new Century 1075 Rotator, the first to order this equipment to be mounted onto a European chassis.

This will be the fifth heavy recovery vehicle order from Boniface Engineering in the last 18 months by Hough Green.  The first of these was the Mercedes Actros with Mk6 Interstater and Pioneer II axle, which is currently based at their Deeside depot in North Wales.

Another Mk6 Interstater with the latest version of the Pioneer axle is currently being installed onto the first DAF 105 to be converted into a recovery vehicle in the UK.

The remaining heavies are another Mk6 Interstater and a Recoverer Trident with Sidewinders.  These two vehicles are due to enter production later in the year.

These are in addition to the three slidebeds currently on order, a 4.5t aluminium bed, a 4t ULA (Ultra Low Approach) bed and the 6t Century bed.

The vehicles are to fill a requirement created by the expansion of the company into several new locations around the north west of England and North Wales and David can foresee a lot more heading Boniface’s direction due to the quality and performance of the equipment.

The Century 1624 is a medium duty underlift available from Boniface

The Century 1624 is a medium duty underlift available from Boniface who frequently mount them on to 4 X 2 chassis as they provide a well balanced package. The lifting performance and nett weight of the equipment are a good match for vehicles with rear axle capacity of 12500 kgs and can easily lift loaded 7 1/2 tonne GVW casualties and cater for larger vehicles which are not fully freighted. Boniface often sells these to customers who already operate Interstaters or Recoverers and have sufficient volume of business to use a lighter weight, and more fuel efficient, towing vehicle. The vehicle illustrated uses the 1624 installed on a Renault Premium chassis, the body was custom built to suit the customers requirements and incorporated the Stealth flyer. The equipment was engineered for M8 Recovery who operate near Glasgow and already operate some heavy Boniface machinery, when sign-written the package will make a striking advertisement for both M8 and Boniface alike.

Boniface Maxi Reach Low-Line boom at work

This picture gives a graphic illustration of the Boniface Maxi Reach Low-Line boom at work to its full extension, the problem on the casualty was a rear wheel bearing so it had to have a rear lift, with the safety crash protection fitted to the rear of the casualty it made the overhang of this truck very long indeed. This was no problem for NY Recovery as their Kenworth is fitted with the Maxi Reach Low-Line boom which made a potentially awkward job look easy.

Thomas Ash & Sons Ltd Glasgow - A RECOVERY STORY

It was the start of our normal day around 8:30am when we got a call from one of our customers asking us to attend their vehicle that had been in an accident and asked us if we could tidy up his load as he had lost some of the waste out of his truck

We sent out our new Trident rescue vehicle to which we thought was a nice simple job to start breaking in the new equipment

When the driver arrived to say it had lost some of its waste was quite an understatement

It seemed that somehow when manoeuvring round the roundabout something moved or gave way and the body decided to part company from the truck and take the truck with it

As the situation was a bit more severe Tommy Ash decided to attend himself with another driver and another one of our century cranes

After arriving on scene and discussing what he intended to do the vehicle It was decided that the two cranes would be used in unison and that heavy lifting slings was the quickest and best approach to tackle this job and the most cost effective for our customer

In a couple of hours the vehicle was put back on its feet and was on route to a local dealer for repair

With all the years of experience held by Tommy such jobs are a mere formality and can be dealt with quickly unlike some recovery companies who make a song and dance about an overturned vehicle and with all the modern equipment at your disposal big jobs are now much smaller

The road was reopened and our trucks and drivers were back at base in time for tea

Pictures include Thomas Ash Jnr. looking at what had happened
