AVRO and SIMI AGM

Boniface sales staff visit demonstrations and exhibitions around the world and recently we attended the AVRO and SIMI AGM and Dinner in Tullamore , Ireland . We had a great time, the people over there are friendly and generous which makes for a enjoyable time, we had work to do and this included helping Eamon Kelly and his team put on a display of equipment and operate the machinery, sometimes in ways that we as the manufacturer didn’t intend!

The afternoon saw the first demonstration of the Holmes 600R, Miller Industries medium duty rotator, outside of the USA ; in fact Eamon Kelly is the first to operate one of these machines in Europe .

These guys are very skilled and fortunately will be helping at the Boniface Crash Clearance day on May 13th, come along and witness the speed they work for yourself, contact Hayley on 01842 754232 for details.

NEWS FLASH

This is an interesting example of the capabilities of the Century 1060S Rotator rolling a casualty over, this was recently undertaken as part of the preparations being made to add a rotator training module to the IVR training course. The load is around 25 tonnes, a single winch has been used for the lift with multiple snatch blocks and strops to keep the cable within its SWL and protect the structure of the casualty. The second winch has been used for restraint, so that after the load has past the C of G it can lowered gently to the ground.

Miller introduce new front stabiliser legs

A new front stabilizer leg was demonstrated at the Florida Show in April, this is an option and available in either two or three stage extension. The three stages increase the width of the spread on the ground to 264”! The leg is angled at 3 ½ degrees specifically to cope with camber on the road.

Boniface can now offer 5 types of forward front outriggers, the standard which is unchanged, the two new lengths of under slung leg, the Sumo leg, and the XP850 leg.

Manufacturing process improvements at Miller

Last year we featured the robots at Miller’s main manufacturing plant in Ooltewah that had been installed to weld up the superstructures of the light duty range, this year the investment has been in robots and facility improvements that will increase efficiency in the heavy duty production. The robot welder pictured here is being trialed at welding the extension boom of the Century 9055, the quality of the weld is excellent and the consistency is maintained throughout the product, we welcome visitors to the plant in the USA so if ever you have a chance to pass please call us and we will arrange for you to be welcomed.

Ray Avery has recently added to his fleet of recovery vehicles a Volvo FH that has been extended and benefited from the addition of the a Boniface Pioneer axle and an Interstater 6H. The axle, which has 12.5 tonnes carrying capacity and sits on 19.5” wheels allows the boom of the Interstater to be tucked closely in behind the drive axle, this provides good stability and superb carrying capability. The Interstater 6 is the latest variant of a product which is probably the only heavy duty under lift product that has been produced for over 26 years by the same company in the world today, Boniface know heavy duty towing equipment! Call us, we are smart and nice people to deal with.

TOP SECRET SCOOP STORY

This truck was spotted by one of our correspondents in build in a secret location in the United States, rumour has it that this is a new 75 tonne Rotator being assembled for NY, with extra turret winches, new style front outrigger legs, four stage rear out rigger legs and locker doors with no handles! NO HANDLES, what’s going on? And it’s got the SDU4 under lift with a Maxilowreachrider H under lift, how does this guy do it? I expect Micky Bons will have to add special scoopy up parts, maybe this truck will be at the Euro in June.

Two additions to the Albert Road fleet, which Boniface have supplied recently are a Scania which originally had been built for George McPhie who had upgraded to a Rotator, this was thoroughly checked and then repainted in Albert Road’s striking yellow paintwork and a Renault Midlum which was fitted with a Chevron 14 series steel bed. Both trucks will add to the resources of what must be one of the most modern fleets in the Essex region, Albert Road have also added two Recoverers and a Rotator, Roger Brown the manager of this facility specified Boniface equipment due to numerous factors, he is familiar with the excellent characteristics of the Boniface range who also had the capability to supply the equipment within a short time frame. Roger is like many Boniface customers a tough guy to satisfy, but remember Boniface try hard and are OK people!

Another example of Boniface products doing the job for which they are made, this time up in Scotland , Barry Devlin is rolling over this casualty with a Recoverer and Sidewinder at one end and a Century 1060S Rotator the over. “Nay problem” as they say in Scotland.

LOWER TIMBER LOCKER

We made this lower locker on the latest vehicle supplied to Boleyn for them to store timber for use at recovery scenes. With internal hinges that open up the door lays flat against the side of the truck so  access is maximized, Boniface will make a body to suit your requirements and would be delighted to talk to you about designing your next build.

BONIFACE INTRODUCE NEW PRODUCT

A new feature available on all Boniface custom built bodies is a sliding accessory stowage cabinet. This system assists in positioning heavy items of stowage, towing cross members, fork holders or fifth wheel couplings, in a place where they are in a permitted lifting range. As part of Boniface’s risk analysis, they already provide weights of all their accessories, brackets have been designed to assist in the removal of many attachments from within the locker system. Some of these features can be retro fitted and are available in kit form for customers to install, Boniface have a sales programme of “being nice people to deal with”, this is another example of their attention to customer care.
