Gallows Wood Recovery
We were asked to attend Humberside Airport to stabilise a helicopter which had a collapsed wheel and also leaking fuel. When we arrived we found that the helicopter had been attempted to be towed with wheel chocks left in place, this was the reason for the wheel collapsing. After discussion with the fire brigade and engineers, it was decided that we would lift the helicopter and load onto a low loader for transportation into workshop hanger for repair. Using the over boom and both winches we connected soft strops to the gear box and lifted the helicopter, we then blocked up the under carriage to allow the blades to be removed. Once removed we then loaded onto a low loader.

NYR Group Here is a mission on the channel tunnel rail link at the new international station at Ebbsfleet. A simple pipe line pull of a 470mm plastic pipe through a 500mm sleve. It's approx 100 meters long and is buried under a river and a rail bridge just to pull the old 380mm one out and new 470mm one in at the same time. After 90meters of easy pull the Kenworth became a bulldozer and we encountered a situation. The 500mm sleeve was not continuous and we was trying to pull 470mm through a 400mm duct !!!! SRE Rescue and Recovery (1) A little regular job I do for one of our customers. The machine weighs 110 ton but to transport it it needs to be lightened, so we lift the 18 ton ballast weight off the back and onto a trailer for separate transport. Submitted by Keith Robinson |
