trucks in action

***Whilst every care is taken to bring you a true and unbiased view of vehicles in action, Boniface do not have any comment on working practices of operators and their recovery techniques.***

HOUSEBOAT

Here's a variation in winching work that NYR completed recently, 60 tonnes of house boat that was winched up the slip way and into a workshop, judging by the pictures, John Darvell the operator, got his gradient, damage and rolling resistances all calculated so the with two lines from his boom winches redirected through the rear D loops he effortlessly pulled the boat out. The Kenworth is fitted with a Century 1075S Rotator and as you can see from the bug shield is known as Mr. X it is a part of a large fleet of recovery equipment operated by Neil Yates, the fleet includes three Rotators all fitted to Kenworth chassis

How are you going to handle this?

You get out your Century 1060s rotator and pick the lump up without blocking the motoway.

Then reverse your 4 axle hyper low Boniface trailer, remember the one with 4 axles that smart people use, and take it away.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

What an unusual bunch of answers we got for our recovery question posed on the web site recently! We can’t publish them even though they are hilarious, I’d be interested to know who reads this stuff! To give you a flavour: We didn’t know there were operators out there with ego’s so big they don’t need equipment, just a look and the casualty flips over. We didn’t know that Spiderman was available at such short notice in the Midlands, and that Superman could be called on with such ease, does he really live in the UK ? The one serious answer was absolutely correct “Boniface Rules”.

A nice simple job this time, can this job be done with out the help of comic heroes? Note that the ground all round is soft.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

The truck is jammed on the support for the upper road, how would you approach this?

TWO CENTURY 1060 ROTATORS IN ACTION

A good example of two Century 1060 Rotators working in a confined space, on this two lane carriage way with limited space available either side the rotators easily deal with this kind of situation.

River Recovery

The casualty was carrying yeast.

The ground condition of the road was thought not safe for lifting from.

The rotator was positioned in a supermarket car park, with the boom over the trailer.

The fifth wheel was disconnected and the tractor unit winched out.

The rotator rolled the trailer over in the river.

The rotator was repositioned and with the one end secured by a Recoverer, the trailer was safely put back on the road.

JOB FROM TODAY

The Foden weighed just over 8 Ton.  I have carried out about half a dozen recoveries and I’ve lost count of the amount of tow in jobs.  I am very pleased with the vehicle and equipments performance, but hope to have something a bit more difficult than this job to test it a bit more.

INTERSTATERS KEEP ON GOING

On a recent trip to Toronto, one of Boniface’s salesmen was rushing to the airport being late to catch a plane but delayed his trip to take some snaps of an early Mk2 Interstater which was parked at the side of the road.

Probably  on its second or third chassis this machine  has been operating in the snow and icy conditions of Canada for the last 20 years.

It demonstrates what a tough product the Interstater is.

Interestingly Interstaters have been in production for the last 23 years and operate in all parts of the globe from Moscow to the Pacific.

We would be interested to hear from other interstater owners who own or have knowledge of the whereabouts of these tough machines.

BONIFACE 3 AXLE TRAILER IN ACTION

Alan Sewell, Saddler Lane Garage, recovered this accident damaged trailer after it's two back axles had been 'knocked out' and the fridge body slid along the chassis by 10".

Due to this movement Alan Sewell took the vehicle back to their base. The trailer weighed 36 tonne and when on the Sewell trailer the height was 15' 6".

A  DEMONSTRATION  OF  PIONEER  STABILITY

The Interstater Mk 4 belonging to NY Recovery, was used to lift an airport tug.

These tugs are particularly heavy as they are used to haul aeroplanes towards the runway.  The Interstater when combined with the Pioneer Axle has phenomenal lift and tow performance and can easily shift the heaviest loads.

So if you want excellent towing performance, get yourself an Interstater Maxireach Lowline recovery vehicle.
