The Sumo Sidewinder or Sidewinder 4 was a development of the well proven Sidewinder winching devices first introduced by Boniface in 1991. The capacity of the leg was increased to handle the loads imposed when used in conjunction with 70 tonne Rotators and winching capacity of up to 30 tonnes. |

The Sidewinder leg fits neatly around the second steering axle of a 4 or 5 axle chassis and rotates out to 90 degrees providing a wide footprint to give tremendous side pulling capability. Integral 30,000lb winches with narrow drums allow good cable payon characteristics. |

Upper and lower hookback points provide a wide range of winching options. |

The foot can be moved to a spade position which on suitable surfaces increases both side and rear winch anchorage. The leg can be used in any position between 0 and 90 degrees. |
